Youth called to be harbinger of peace

In the present context where Naga society is undergoing conflict situation, youth are called to be peace builder and agent of change to bring about positive transformation and leave brighter legacy for posterity.
The call on youth to be peace builder was made pronounced during the Peace Festival, organized by Peace Channel, Wokha unit at DBHSS Youth Center, Wokha, on the theme “Inspiring change towards a violence free world.”
Chief guest and Deputy Commissioner, Wokha, Robin Lotha, in his message, encouraged and challenged the youth to realize the value of peace and work together to give peace a chance. He skeptically remarked that even though we talk about peace very often, in reality there is very little space to express peace.
Stating that peace doesn’t come easy and cannot be purchase, the Deputy Commissioner insisted that it still possible to bring peace if we all work together by leaving aside our petty differences. He went on to say that all our problems can be solved only when we practice and put peace in our hearts. He said peace begins with individual.
In her keynote address, Miss Mhalo Ezung, exhorted the youth to be peace builders and change makers in the society. Amos Odyuo, president Kyong Students’ Union, in his greetings said everyone has the right to liberty and security, adding as human we are entitled to live free as we choose. Maintaining that peace is our rights, he has encouraged the youth to work towards it.
L,evi V Sumi, Project Coordinator of Peace Channel, who briefed about Peace Channel activities, said peace is the only way to set free from conflict and violence. He said the most important thing to remember when we talk about peace is love. He added that love and peace are inseparable.  
Wobenthung J Patton, Superintendent of Observation Home (Social Welfare), Wokha, who was the guest of honour, termed the youth as the harbingers of change in the society. He said it is the youth who could bring lasting peace in the state. He has appreciated the noble initiative of the Peace Channel for empowering the youth to be the change makers.
Mrs. Thungchano Tsanglao, President Eloe Hoho, Wokha, also shared her experience to the youth. She said the state is corrupted and there is no respect for children and women, adding today women are the most vulnerable section even in their homes.
Stressing that peace should begin with family, she has called upon the youth to respect their parents to experience peace in the family. She said it is the dissatisfaction among the individuals, groups and communities which bring conflicts. She also said that if the individuals does not love oneself and respect oneself, there is a possibility of conflict in the family and society. She, therefore, exhorted all to love and respect. The day’s progrmame commenced with invocation by Wonchio Ngullie, Yoth Director WVBC.
