Felicitation programme for trainees under Step-up Programme, sponsored by District Urban Development Agency (DUDA) was held on November 20 in the DC’s conference hall, Kiphire, with the Deputy Commissioner, Kiphire, A Chumremo Odyuo, as the chief guest.
Trainees of tailoring, driving, computer and ward chairmen of Kiphire town have attended the felicitation programme.
Congratulating the trainees for completing their course successfully, A Chumremo said that Nagas were known for their hardwork and honesty. He however regretted that those values have been replaced by laziness.
Lamenting that Naga’s society has been filled with social evil practices such as dishonesty, hatred and killing, he appealed the gathering to eradicate those evils at their own level. He said vocational training could rid the Nagas of the unemployment problems.
SDO (C) and chairman DUDA, Dr. Tinojongshi Chang, in his keynote address, appealed the ward chairman of Kiphire town to identify the genuine beneficiaries for the training.
Kuyanla Sangtam, a tailoring trainee who spoke on behalf of the trainees, has thanked the department for providing such opportunity to the poor. She appealed the government to make sufficient machines in order to earn their livelihood. Certificates were also distribution for the trainees.
