CM calls for cultural, social ties between Rengmas, Pochurys

Nagaland chief minister T R Zeliang has called upon Rengma and Pochury community to strengthen cultural and social ties between them within the state as well as in international border.
He said this while speaking at the Rengma-Pochury Day Tuesday at Naga Solidarity Park, Kohima as chief guest.
Asserting that Nagas are one ethically and culturally even though “we” speak different languages, Zeliang said that Rengmas and Pochurys share a lot of common history and migration in the past.
Lauding the communities for initiating Rengma-Pochury Day celebration, Zeliang said that as both share lot of common history it was logical to observe a common cultural day so as to strengthen and expand the bond between them.
The chief minister also urged the young generation to realize the values of “our” culture and to respect the traditions as Nagas are known and respected because of “our” culture and traditions.
On Naga issue, Zeliang called upon Nagas to be united and voice out for a solution to the decades old Naga political problem.
Reiterating that NDA government was ready to solve Naga issue in “time bound” manner, the chief minister said that if Nagas become united “we” can expect permanent peace and all round development.
To achieve Naga unity, Zeling called upon each constituted Naga tribe to be more united and work together for the common cause.
Short speeches were also delivered by deputy speaker, NLA, Er. Levi Rengma and parliamentary secretary for school education, Yitachu. Solidarity note were also read out by representative of Western Rengma, Assam, Dr. Nshonga Rusho and Representative from Eastern Pochury Myanmar. Rengma-Pochury Youth Essemble Choir and Obed Kath presented songs with cultural item were presented by Rengma and Pochury cultural troupes.
The programme was chaired by president Rengma Hoho, Sawathang Kezseb while member secretary Organising Committee John Semy proposed the vote of thanks.
Three-point resolution was also passed at the Rengma-Pochury Day: Rengma-Pochury community extended support to the peace process and assured peaceful and harmonious co-existence of all the Nagas.
 Rengam Hoho to host Rengma-Pochury Day celebration on 2016 and thereafter the next celebration shall be observed in 2020. After 2020, celebration shall be observed every fifth year. Rengma-Pochury community also resolved to take up common venture project as common property for which a five member planning committee was constituted for further course of action.
