Daho Karma Ura, president Centre for Bhutan and Gross National Happiness (GNH) research Thursday said “Nagas should be proud of their vibrant culture”.
Speaking to this Correspondent, Dasho Karma Ura, who was the ‘honored guest’ on day-4 of the Hornbill Festival here at Kisama, Thursday said it was “imperative for Nagas to achieve a balanced development in all facets of life which is essential to our happiness”.
When asked whether the GNH model would work in Nagaland, Dasho said a thorough and serious research was needed to understand every aspect. He said “GNH is a holistic and sustainable approach to development which balances between material and non-material values with the conviction that humans want to search for happiness”.
Dasho Karma, a red scarf holder and honorary colonel in the Royal Bhutan army, has been directly appointed by the HM King of Bhutan to look into the GNH.
GNH was designed to characterize an indicator and concept that measures quality of life or social progress in more holistic and psychological terms than the economic indicator of Gross Domestic Product (GDP).  Dasho Karma was accompanied by Vice Admiral (retd) Shekhar Sinha and other dignitaries. Vice Admiral (retd) Sinha said he was personally impressed by the World War II museum at Kisama and the CWG war cemetery. He said the experience was a historic experience to learn about the famous battle of Kohima.
Dasho Karma was received by Advisor Tourism E.E. Pangteang while former chief secretary Alemtemshi Jamir and Commissioner & secretary for Tourism, Art & Culture, Himato Zhimomi hosted the guests. Later, Dasho Karma Ura called on Nagaland Governor, P.B Acharya at Raj Bhavan.
