The 4th Surumi Award Trust (SAT) ceremony was held December 28 where HSLC 2014 toppers from Surumi village were awarded “Akighiche Saxu.”
Delivering his speech at the ceremony as guest speaker, NRE assistant director Er. Inaho P Awomi reminded the winners that they were now the torch bearers among Surumi student community, adding they needed to aim for the stars. Urging them to live according to the will of God to achieve further, the guest speaker told them to constantly work hard to live up to the expectations of others.
Award carrying a citation and a cash prize of Rs.10000 were given under three categories: Rural — Katovi A Aye of Mount View School, Suruhuto; Urban (NBSE) — Vinikali HA Suli of Little Flower Hr. Sec. School, Kohima and Urban (CBSE & others) — Lydia Lovi Jakhalu of Delhi Public School, Dimapur. Four successful candidates in JEE/AIPMT 2014 were awarded “SAT Akighiche Shepe” and as an encouragement, a cash award of Rs.1000 each was also given to all successful candidates under Rural catergory of High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) Examinations 2014.
SAT chairman Hokuto Jakhalu gave a brief account on inception of the Awards and thanked Alemtemshi Jamir, retired chief secretary for authoring the Trust and expressed his gratitude to the trustees for their generous contribution.
Earlier, Sumi Baptist Church (SBC) women leader Tonili said the invocation and Sumi Totimi Loka of Surumi and Ati-Angu Kuthu presented special songs.
Surumi Award Trust (SAT) secretary Hotoshe Awomi chaired the proceedings and special songs were presented by Sumi Totimi Loka and Ati-Angu Kuthu. The Award ceremony concluded with a benediction by Women Pastor Hutoli of NCRC.
