NIAPA celebrates Decade Plus 1

People from the fields of education, business and politics gathered to attend the Northeast India Academy of Performing Arts (NIAPA) “Decade Plus 1” founders day celebration on January 21 at NIAPA campus, Dimapur.
Speaking at the celebration as special star guest and Member of Parliament, Moon Moon Sen, said she is interested in weaves and had seen beautiful shawls being made in Nagaland and hoped that when Nagaland grows larger the state does not lose its identity with Bengalis, Marwari and other people coming in the state. Sen further hoped that the products from Nagaland will be appreciated globally in a larger rate and conveyed best wishes to the institute.
NIAPA advisor, Moji Riba, shared on what NIAPA meant to him and said that in a time when there is a lot of underemployment in the North East region and dependence on government is common that is where NIAPA create an area to provide building of skill development which is a training for the future in terms of beauty, events and music.
According to Riba North East is a region known for wrong kind of things but NIAPA’s initiative is like a success story.  Riba said at NIAPA young people find space to look for livelihood because if people are employed, people are happy and it reflects in the society. He compared NIAPA as “a light house” when people are looking at a focus to create opportunities. Through NIAPA’s initiative, he said change is happening in small bits and pieces.
Other “All Stars” included member of Meghalaya legislative assembly  Jemino Maethoh, president Nagaland Contractors and Suppliers’ Union Pele khezhie, founder Livingstone Foundation Higher Secondary School Andrew Ahoto, CEO de Oriental Grand Kevisenuo Shurhozelie and team member of youth net Lezo putsure.
The celebration saw performances by Gugs Chishi, Guru Reuben Masangva and Alobo Naga. MOI junior, a collection by NIAPA, was showcased and a theatre piece named “Song of the warrior” based on Naga folklore were presented.
Earlier, NIAPA over the past years was presented in a power point presentation. The celebration was marked by unveiling of NIAPA’s monolith by special star guest and vote of thanks was conveyed by Managing Director NIAPA, Akuonuo Khezhie.
