Thirty eight Excise personnel including Inspectors and Assistant Inspectors from across the State have completed the first phase four-day basic training course on Excise and Narcotic law and handling of fire arms on Friday.
The training was conducted under the guidance of the Assistant Commissioner of Excise (Enforcement), Imkong K Jamir, in the office complex of Directorate of Excise, Dimapur.
Additional Commissioner of Excise (HQ), Pitongse Sangtam, has termed the training course as an important tool for Excise personnel in its fight against organized drug trafficking and bootlegging. Sangtam also called for strict discipline among the personnel while discharging their duties.
Later, Sangtam distributed the certificates to the trainees at the closing function.
The function was chaired by Deputy Commissioner of Excise (HQ), Lanuwati Jamir. The programme ended with a vote thanks by Assistant Commissioner of Excise (Enforcement), Imkong K Jamir.
It may be noted that 23 Excise personnel had also completed training on various subjects at 173Bn CRPF, Dimapur, in January last.
