Youth camp concludes in Naga Heritage Village

A five day National Integration Camp, organized by Nehru Yuva Kendra, Kohima, successfully concluded at Naga Heritage Village, Kisama on February 22 with the active participation of  250 youth from Karnataka, Maharashtra, Himachal Pradesh, Manipur, Bihar, Punjab and Nagaland.
Addressing the valedictory function, Commissioner and Secretary of Youth Resources and Sports, John Menukhol, said the choice to make India healthy or unhealthy depended on in the hand of the youth. Asserting that tomorrow belongs the youth, he said the youth should play positive role in making India strong and vibrant, adding the youth has to play a bigger role in nation building activities.
He wanted India to be educated not by degrees but by giving the youth the opportunity to grow up in equality in the sight of God. Also stating that India is a secular country by constitution, he said every youth should uphold secularism where each religion finds space to grow. He also appealed the youth to think and act globally in order to achieve towards making the country economically strong. He also wished that every youth in the country get opportunities to grow and hold responsibility in making India better place to live in.
Voices of the young people expressed during the interaction programme stressed that every youth should make efforts in making India a drug abuse free country among the youth. Some other expressed that youth have to play pivotal role in economic growth by skill enhancement programme and clean India through youth initiatives. Others expressed that youth should be given enough opportunities and avenues to capacitate themselves and help to serve the country.
Winners of the various competitions were awarded with citation and cash awards. The best Camper’s award was won by Bihar team and Best folk dance award was won by Punjab. In Know India quiz, Manipur won first prize, while the second and third were awarded to Bihar and Maharashtra respectively.
