Cabinet expansion: NPF (Noke) slams CM, Dr. Shürho for delay
February 27, 2015 | by admin
NPF (Noke) through its press and media cell, slammed chief minister T.R. Zeliang and NPF (Central) president Dr. Shürhozelie that till today, they had not kept their commitments made to legislators, before and after the February 5 confidence motion, to expand the cabinet.
The press and media cell further stated, that “democracy and governance” would not be strengthened if portfolios of 40 key departments were retained by the chief minister.
It claimed, that the people were in the dark on how the affairs of the state were run “only by the minority chief minister” who has control over all important and key portfolios.
Terming it as “outright dictatorship”, it said Zeliang was therefore “rightly termed as minority chief minister” in the “history of the country or the world who occupies the chair despite not being favoured by the majority” of his own party legislators. The press and media cell said this was a record whose consequences would be faced by all including sections of society.
Press and media cell asked, if it was good for society if a person continued as chief minister even after losing the confidence of his own party members and if this was what democracy meant?
Press and media cell said truth will prevail and people responsible for the current state of affairs cannot escape the consequences.
NP Adds: Meanwhile, according to sources, the allocation of portfolios is likely to be carried out by first or second week of March next.
