Dr. Nicky asks government employees to be regular

Minister for Forest, Environment & Wildlife Dr. Neikeisalie Kire has asked all government employees to be dutiful and attend office regularly.
Inaugurating the new Dimapur district treasury office building Tuesday here at Bank Colony, Dr. Nicky lamented that some government employees draw salaries without attending office and asked them to be responsible and attend office regularly. He also encouraged government employees to check bogus and proxy employments in their offices to maintain transparency.
Congratulating the officers and staff of Dimapur district treasury office for the inaugural of the new building, the minister also asked them to work with sense of duty and commitment as they play a vital role. He also asked them not to spare any effort to ensure that Dimapur treasure office functions smoothly and efficiently so as to facilitate the interest and benefit of the public.
Dimapur being one of the biggest treasuries in the state, Dr. Nicky said it should strive to be efficient and maintain transparency to be a model office for others to emulate.
Dr. Nicky also called upon the treasury employees to retrospect and dedicate themselves in the interest of public and government and asked them not to disappoint people but to provide them with necessary information. Stressing on the role of the treasury department, he said since most of the exam papers and election materials of municipal bodies etc. were kept in treasury office, he requested them to make treasury a “safe haven” for the materials to be stored.
While delivering welcome speech, OSD (general) Finance V. Kezo also highlighted the activities and functions of the office and said that treasury office constitutes one of the key points of interface and facilitation of the public in terms of government payments through the concerned DDOs. In addition, he said treasury officers also function as DDOs for pension payments.
Kezo mentioned that the state government has been steadily working to improve the infrastructure of treasuries in all parts of the state adding that few sub-treasuries  was expected to be covered within few years.  He said government was also in process of shifting the system of manual functioning of treasuries to online system on a computerized platform and that the pilot phase of this project was expected to commence within few months.
Kezo also affirmed that once the project starts the functioning of treasuries and interface of the departments would become more transparent and effective. He said this would not only help to check frauds and malpractices but also would help to improve the quality and accuracy of data for compilation of accounts of the state government by the office of the accountant general.
Earlier, the programme was chaired by principal director Z.Mesen, senior Pastor Sumi Baptist Church, Dimapur Vitoshe Swu invoked god’s blessing, special number (male voice) was presented and vote of thanks was pronounced by director of treasuries and accounts K.Tiayanger Tzudir.  The programme was attended by MLA & Chairman of Nagaland pollution control board Amenba Yaden, retired additional director, treasury officers, staffs and other invitees.
