Ao Baptist Church Association(ABAM) has expressed extreme shock at the “rape of a school going girl” on February 24 by Syed Sirf Khan and the “unimaginable barbarism,we Nagas have committed against the rape accused.”
ABAM executive secretary Rev.Dr.Mar Atsongchanger also strongly condemned the “rape committed by the rapist” and that inspite of the crime committed, asked why was the blame game being played – “that he/she is innocent or guilt”.  He said rape could never be justified and without any reservation, everyone need to “condemn such evil.”
However, he said the incident on March 5 where the accused “was pulled out of the jail by an angry mob and murdering him” also showed  “our barbarism to the whole world through different means of media”. Describing it as “ total insanity” he invoked God’s wisdom upon people to  face the consequences.
Rev. Dr. Mar also said it was disheartening to learn of various propaganda made to justify or condemn the incidents. He said   the mob committed abomination when they obstructed rule of law and took the law into their own hands.
He urged upon all sensible person to condemn the act and for which Nagas around the world should hang their heads in shame. Dr. Mar said “our thirst for blood should be rooted out” as it has no place in modern human society and called for repentance and seeking God’s forgiveness.
