
District Child Protection Unit, Longleng, has organized a sensitization programme on Child Rights and Child Protection on March 10 at Phom Lempong Christian Association Convention Hall, Longleng, with Nikhashe Sema, Deputy Commissioner, Longleng, as the special guest.
Resource person, Vezokho Nyekha (Azo), Legal cum Probation Officer, spoke on Child Rights and Child Protection and the objective of organizing the sensitization programme. He has highlighted on the contribution of the legal services to children in need of care and protection and children in conflict with law and also emphasized on the contradiction in dealing with children in conflict with customary laws and with legal laws. He also spoke on the vulnerabilities to situations and actions that lead to abusing, neglect, abandoned, exploitation, surrendered and separation of children. He said every child has the right to education and the right to be safe at home.
Rokokhrielie, Programme Officer of State Child Protection Society, highlighted on the importance of Integrated Child Protection Scheme and Child Welfare Committees, Juvenile Justice Board and the staff’s of DCPU, Longleng.
The programme was attended by the village council chairmen, village development boards, women societies, church leaders, Angawadi workers, school teachers, Gaon Buras, student leaders and the public.
