One held with stolen car, another for assault

Mobile unit and police personnel of Sechu (Zubza) Police Station have taken one person into custody on March 19 along with stolen car allegedly for harassing the truck drivers.
SDPO and PRO, Kohima, statement said the accused was arrested as he tried to flee from a Tata Sumo bearing Registration No. NL01/ 2834 when the police personnel intervened in a commotion at Assam Petrol Pump, Zubza, where several trucks were parked.
The accused was later identified as one Selongmong Sangtam (33), son of Makum Sangtam of Chungtor village in Longkim under Tuensang and residing at BSF Camp, Kohima. On preliminary investigation, the arrested person disclosed that he was acting on the direction of one Atong, who was newly inducted in the NNC (Non-Accordist) as Tatar, and was trying to ascertain whether the drivers had paid yearly tax to NNC (Non-Accordist) for the year 2015.
On thorough verification of the seized vehicle conducted by the newly constituted Anti-vehicle theft squad of DEF Kohima, the chassis and engine No. was found to be tampered and did not match with the vehicle documents.
Case in this connection has been registered with Sechü (Zubza) Police Station.
In another incident basing on FIR received from the official of Fire Station, Kohima, stating that he was assaulted while on government/ public duty to douse jungle fire near Kisama petrol pump, police have taken into custody one Neise Chütso, son of Vise-o Chütso of Phesama village for assault and obstructing a public servant while on duty.
Case in this connection has been registered with Khuzama Police Station, the statement said.
