Malayalam film festival gets underway in Dmu

A three-day Malayalam film festival named ‘Dhwani,’ sponsored by Kerala Chalachitra Academy and Kerala Sangeeta Nataka Academy and organised by Kerala Samajam Dimapur got underway in Dimapur on March 27 at MGM Higher Secondary School premises.
The first of its kind, film festival in Dimapur was inaugurated by Rev. Fr. PS Varghese, Principal of MGM Higher Secondary School and Parish Priest of MGM Church Dimapur. In his inaugural address, he expressed that it was a novel venture by the organisers to bring such huge film festivals to smaller towns like Dimapur which otherwise such film festivals were usually held only in big cities. He also said that MGM fraternity was privileged and happy to be part of this prestigious Film Festival.
In his welcome address Reji Abraham, President Kerala Smajam Dimapur, highlighted the relevance of a film festival in this age of Poket Theaters. He also thanked the Government of Kerala and Chalachitra Akademy for allotting a film festival venue to Dimapur.
A total of 7 Malayalam movies of recent past would be screened over three days.  On the first day, two movies namely ‘101 Chothyangal’ and ‘1983’ were screened. On the Second Day, movies called ‘Njan’ and “Philips and Monkey Pen” were screened.  The festival would conclude on March 29 with the screening of ‘Alif’ and ‘Dhrushyam’.
