Nagaland Governor and brand Ambassador for the Swacch Bharat, P.B. Acharya has nominated nine eminent personalities as Governor’s nominee for effective implementation of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan in Nagaland.
The nominees included Abei-u Meru, Longtam Phom, Vizopal Chaya, former MLA Supongmeren Jamir, Geoffrey Yaden, Hokugha Chishi, T Khongo, Methanelie and Alobo Naga. It may be recalled that the Governor launched the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan in Nagaland at Old NST, Kohima town on March 23.
Swacch Bharat Mission was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on October 2, 2014. Under this Mission, it is targeted to build one crore individual household toilets besides 2.52 crore community toilet seats. The Mission seeks to eliminate open defecation and manual scavenging, besides promoting modern and scientific municipal solid waste management. The Mission aims to achieve a Clean India by October 2, 2019.
