Reacting to reports that the Centre was set to terminate the contract for a bunch of highly controversial highway projects in the country, the state PWD (NH) has clarified that it has not received any directive for terminating contract for the two-laning of four roads in Nagaland from the ministry.
Four different road stretches (Longleng-Changtongya road, Mon-Tamlu-Merangkong road, Phek-Pfutsero road and Zunheboto-Chakabama road) were clubbed together in 2010 and were awarded to M/s Maytas-Gayatri (JV).
In a press release, PWD (NH) chief engineer V.Kehie, however, stated that the department was concerned about the slow progress of work and was conveyed to the ministry earlier.
According to chief engineer, the ministry had appointed a consultant in February 2014 for preparation of revised detailed project report and verification of qualities executed by the contract, which, he said, was awaited.
It may be mentioned that the report was published in Times of India– “Contract to be terminated for controversial Nagaland highway projects.”
