ACAUT rebuts allegation

May 11, 2015 | by admin

Responding to the NSCN (K), ACAUT Nagaland, through its media cell has denied allegations of it being “anti-national” or “collaborating with the occupational forces” or carrying convertible Glock submachine gun, or any kind of weapons and described them as “unsubstantiated allegation” bereft of any truth and unethical.
ACAUT said God was witness and people of Nagaland and history, to stand as testament to its stand. It asked if questioning the “logic behind factionalism and voicing concerns of thousands of Nagas” was anti-national, then “what was pro-national?”
ACAUT revealed, that its members had turned down the request of Shambu Singh (union home secretary) for a private meeting since ACAUT understood that it has no business in meddling with the affairs of the government of India and Naga political groups. ACAUT however said as people’s movement, it cannot condone the endangerment on the lives of innocent civilians by firing and carrying out attacks in civilian populated areas or creating fear psychosis that went totally against the will of the people. It said Naga public still carried the psychological scars and trauma due to brutalities in the pre-cease fire era and yearned for peace and normalcy.
Apart from fighting against the menace of rampant corruption which has crippled the state, ACAUT said its great concern was the disease of factionalism that went against the aspiration of Nagas and also a stumbling block towards lasting solution for the Naga political movement for which, unification of all factions was a must.
ACAUT further stated, that the greatest dilemma and confusion for Nagas today with regard to the political impasse was the question on why were nine different Naga political groups, all claiming the sovereignty lay with people? ACAUT maintained that if that was so, then the NPGs should put this into practice.
Owing to what it termed as “cancerous factionalism” ACAUT said it made the clarion call of “One government, one tax” and therefore, addressed the moral imagination of all NPGs to “sincerely work towards unity at the earliest” and not to try to mislead the people by citing nationalism.
