
Advisor for department of legal metrology & consumer protection (LM&CP), Thongwang Konyak, Wednesday urged all the officers and staffs of the department to work sincerely for the upliftment of the department.
Speaking at a felicitation programme, organized by the department in honour at the directorate of LM&CP, Kohima, Thongwang said politicians may come and go but the department would stay for many years, a DIPR report stated. To run the department smoothly, he said a stable government, sincere working officials and proper funding were needed.
Though the department seemed small in size, advisor said it could, however, achieve many good things for the benefit of the general public.
On post creation, construction of office building and staff quarters and proper vehicles, which were voiced by the officers of the department during the programme, the Advisor said whatever was needed he would take up with the chief minister.
On the financial situation of the state, Thongwang said most of the resources were drained on the salary of the government employees and with a deficit of corers of rupees the government was unable to do much.
Thongwang, however, assured all possible help for the improvement of the department.
LM&CP secretary T. Kiheto Sema, who chaired the programme, also delivered the welcome address. He said the department was small yet playing a great role for the welfare of the society. Sema said that the department was not only correcting the weights and measures but also giving awareness programme in different districts. He stressed on the need for creating more awareness about the existence of the department.
LM&CP secretary expressed hope that with Thongwang as advisor, the department would further improve.
He also urged all district officers them to re-dedicate themselves and work hard for the society.
Joint Controller & HoD, LM&CP, Bizo M. Kuotsu highlighted the departmental activities. Status reports of the district were also given by the district officers. The invocation prayer was offered by superintendent, Sashimenla while vote of thanks was proposed by deputy controller, LM&CP, L. Nokcha.
