Phomching Area Students’ Union (PASU) organized sanitation cum plantation programme on the theme, “Go Green, Save Mother Earth” on June 12, at Longwa.
The programme was organized in collaboration with the Village council and Students’ Union, Longwa.
Plantation programme was done from International boundary B.P 154 bordering Myanmar till Langpehong and at the International Trade Centre besides covering village road sides.
Speaking on the occasion, president PASU Penjun thanked the villagers led by chief Angh, VCC and Longwa Students’ Union President for the joint venture. He also stressed on the significance of Longwa village for Phomching area in particular and Mon district in general as it is placed at the tourist map and also being a strategic point pertaining to the international geo-politics.
Government Middle School (GMS) teachers and GPS Longwa with their Students’ participated at the plantation drive.
In a press release, PASU expressed gratitude to DFO, Mon for contributing saplings, Wangchung, advisory board convenor for his logistic and financial assistant and host of Phomching Area’s intellectuals who stood behind the PASU for the success of the programme.
Earlier invocation prayer was pronounced by Longwa Baptist Church deacon Wangnyei.
