
Parliamentary secretary for information and public relations (IPR) K. Khekaho on June 16 urged upon the officers of the department to accelerate the works in order to get things done at an opportune time.
Newly inducted parliamentary secretary for IPR was addressing IPR officers during his introductory meeting at the IPR conference hall, Kohima.
According to a DIPR report, Khekaho also emphasized on bringing about positive change and developments in the department with determination and hard work.
“We should change the circumstances and emerge stronger in whatever positions we are put into to take the department forward,” the report quoted him as saying.
Also, stressing on the importance of division of labour, he said it was the need of the hour for any department to excel.
Stating that he really wanted to do good for the department during his tenure, Khekaho sought the support of the entire fraternity.
While interacting with the department officials, Khekaho said any officers or staffs was welcome to visit his chamber so as to develop a sense of bonhomie thereby sorting out differences or problems faced by the department.
Describing himself as “a man who is accessible all the time”, Khekaho said ‘a good politician is a man who is accessible all the time, who brings developments and such developments benefit the people’. Further, he appealed to all the officers to put in heart and soul for the upliftment of the department since everyone has the potentiality to contribute new and innovative ideas.
IPR director Pausui Zeliang, in his speech, stated that the department was a channel of communication between the government and the people, adding that it was the duty of the department to highlight the government’s activities, thereby projecting a positive image of the government. “This is what the department has been successfully implementing over the years through various programmes and activities,” director said.
IPR joint secretary Sotsula Yimchunger chaired the programme while IPR additional director Limawati Ao proposed vote of thanks. IPR under secretary Mhalo Humtsoe also attended the programme.
DPRO Mokokchung, Chuba Walling, spoke on behalf of district officers where he highlighted on the district activities and expressed grievances faced by the district offices. Special number was presented by DIPR staff, Dan Khing and Ayimla.
