YMCA annual conference concludes

July 9, 2015 | by admin

Two-day annual regional council meeting and conference of YMCA North East India Region concluded Wednesday held at the Auditorium of Livingstone Foundation Higher Secondary School (LHFSS).
Closing programme began with the devotional service led by the Eastern Bible College. The main speaker for the devotional service was principal Eastern Bible College, Dimapur, Rev. Thungdemo.
In his message, he focussed on prayer as a means of communicating with God and understanding what He wants us to do and not only asking Him for our needs. He also read from 1John Ch 5:14 which says ‘This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.’
After the devotional service, a special speech was delivered by retd. sessions and district judge,  Veprasa Nyekha. He was of the opinion that YMCA was a rare platform where the North Eastern people can get together for a common purpose to share their common vision and programmes. He expressed that the North East has been a blessed region where there were immense potentialities of mineral resources.
However, he expressed dismay on numerous challenges in the region and its people, unexpectedly like the racial discrimination and humiliation faced by the North Eastern people in the capital city, Delhi.
He accepted the fact that Nagaland was still not known to the main land India in many aspects and only a negative picture has been projected all along about the state and the region.
The good works, traditions and rich culture of the state and region is never depicted or reflected outside, he added. He therefore, challenged the YMCA functionaries that they have a very big responsibility to perform and reach out to the mainland India about the positive aspects on the North Eastern region.
Members of YMCS – Michael Brooks from Guwahati YMCA, Dr. Rejoy K.K. from Imphal YMCA,  Joe R. Z. Thanga from Aizawl YMCA,  F. Rymbui from Nongtalang YMCA,  Zohmangaiha from Tanhril YMCA, Dokho Phira from Dimapur YMCA also spoke on the occassion.
Vote of thanks was proposed by president Dimapur IMCA, Andrew Ahoto.
After the programme the executive meeting ensued where important deliberations and agendas related to the affairs of the YMCA in North East India Region was discussed. Executive meeting was chaired by the vice chairman of YMCA NEIR Mr. K. Lalsawnvela and attended by all the executive officials of YMCA from various North Eastern States.
