Manipur NPF unit calls 24-hr total bandh

July 27, 2015 | by admin

Naga People’s Front (NPF) Manipur unit has announced that it was set to go ahead with 24-hour total bandh in all the five hill districts of the state starting July 26 midnight. The bandh call was to protest against Manipur government’s failure to respond to the ultimatum demanding formation of autonomous district councils (ADCs) by July 25. The decision was taken by NPF unit executives and district units after thorough discussion on the issue on July 25.
NPF Manipur state unit working president Solomon Veino said that the bandh was being called to reciprocate the state government’s negligence over the rights of the tribal people and delaying the formation of the ADC. The stir would restrict traffic movement, down shutters of all business establishments, offices including educational institutes. However, emergency services such as water supply, power, media, fire brigade, medical and security would be exempted from the purview of the bandh. Veino appealed to every right thinking citizen of the hill districts to extend support and co-operation.
