Some of the mainland Indian artists which have registered with Indihut includes one of India’s finest new-age poet and rapper EPR Iyer, who is also the frontman of ‘Underground Authority’, winner of Hornbill Rock 2013. EPR is one of the first emcees / rappers from Kolkata to make a mark. He is noted for his stage presence and passionate delivery of vocals.
EPR’s powerful lyrics which often talk about racism in our country is reflected in one of his original songs ‘Sick of the Justice’ opens with the lines “Paint a picture of a country without its seven sisters.
We will have to repent in this generation not merely for the hateful words and actions of the bad people but for the appalling silence of the good people, in the words of Martin Luther King Jr.”
“WE eat the same rice that grows on our soils from different plates?
Different Shades of the color/Brother, Don’t try and discriminate
Eliminate the false sense of superiority, don’t try and bully the minority
Or corner the weak? Some incidents are just put on repeat.
Girls get teased / There’s murder under broad daylight, blood on the streets, where everyone will see but no one will speak and so it proceeds.”
EPR delves into various socio-political issues with his solo effort, delivering powerful messages about racism, violence against women and challenges the status-quo within the social and political circles which has engulfed the nation from moving ahead towards progressing in a true humanitarian sense.
EPR has stepped in to lead the pack of young new Indians, fighting for justice and rationality to prevail by using Music as a force and create a generation of rebels with a cause. EPR’s music can be downloaded from www.indhut.com.
