VAC-DPDB Kohima conducts workshop at Tsiemekhuma village

A day long workshop was organized on August 6 at Tsiemekhuma village and Village Adoption Committee (VAC) of District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) Kohima adopted Tsiemekhuma village as its model village. Addressing the gathering MLA Dr. Neiphrezo encouraged the villagers to become the role model since Tsiemekhuma village was one of the first village adopted under the scheme. He also sought co-operation from all stakeholders. 
Nagaland Bee and Honey Mission (NBHM) team member Bodevi Shuya stressed on the importance of bee keeping and advised them to take up the activity as the mission to adopt bee tourism spot under selected villages in Nagaland. Bee box and kits were distributed to the trainees.  
Under the Clean India Mission  Swachh Bharat Abhiyan a cleanliness drive was conducted at the village primary school and dustbins, brooms, toilet needs etc were distributed to Village Education Committee. 
Medical health programme was also held with SDMO Dr. Yanren. Free checkups and medicines were made available. Representatives from State Resource Centre for Women (SRCW) interacted with women folks on the various problems and issues faced by them and highlighted the various schemes available. 
Resource person DSO Teisobu Sekhose encouraged the people to take up sport activities to stay fit and disciplined.  Vice principal DIET Vechier Venuh who also spoke on the occasion mentioned the important role played by VEC, teachers and parents in educational upliftment. He stressed on the need to teach and communicate in English.  He said that the funds were not for self benefit but to enhance the learning of students. He further lamented the misuse of funds and proxy teachers and challenged the VEC to look into this matter. 
District Agriculture Officer and Project Director ATMA, Vizonyu Liezie did a resource mapping of the village, demonstration and distribution of pulses. ATMA Kohima district also participated in the programme by showing a live demonstration on pickle making, chilli and cherry tomato pickle to the women. VAC-DPDB Convener Jakpou acknowledged the departments for their cooperation andfurther encouraged the villagers to utilize the available resources which were given by the department in order to bring maximum development in the village.
