Drawing attention to the clarification made by Food & Civil Supplies (F&CS) department, the fair price shop union Tuensang (FPSUT) has urged the department to inspect, verify and to institute an inquiry into the irregular supply of various PDS schemes allegedly by the officers of the assistant director F&CS Tuensang.
In a press release, FPSU Tuensang president Lonkhang Chang and general secretary Akokla (Lise) stated that PDS Tuensang office was unable to carry out the responsibilities of PDS distribution in the district as there was “massive misuse” of these schemes by the inspector and store keeper, who were in charge of these schemes in Tuensang.
Pertaining to the issue, the union said the problem arose mainly due to shortage of allocation of monthly quota of APL, BPL and AAY schemes. FPSUT also maintained that the BPL ad hoc additional schemes allocated by central government in recent months have not been received till date. Meanwhile, the union has appealed to the F&CS department to stop VIP quota under APL since Tuensang was one of the most remote towns in Nagaland.
