Inaugural programme of 4th round block level ASHA training on module 6 and 7 for Ongpangkong block was held on August 17 at Ongpangkong Salang.
Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Mokokchung, Dr. S.S. Akaba Longchar in his exhortation speech urged all the ASHAs to be responsible model and highlighted about the importance of breast feeding and the care of new born babies.
He also told them to observe and assist during the immediate new born period and encourage the mother to start breast feeding immediately after delivery.
Dr. Longchar also explained about malnutrition and diarrhoea and the uses of ORS and Zinc tablets. He encouraged the ASHAs to focus in areas of community mobilisation to improve health status, access to service and promote people participation in health programmes, new born care when visiting the new born at home, child care, nutrition, infection and social mobilisation. ASHA co-ordinator Anungla in her welcome address expressed gratitude to all the ASHAs for attending the training. The programme was chaired by DCM Mokokchung Watisenla Jamir.
