August 21, 2015 | by admin

Incessant rainfall on Thursday triggered another massive mudslide at Phesama village near Kisama Naga Heritage Village along NH-29 leaving more than 200 vehicles stranded.
DC Kohima, Rovilato Mor who was at the site said one BRTF excavator and one Manipur bound bus, which got stuck in the middle of the landslide, was obstructing road clearance. Mor said the landslide was enormous and the clearance party failed to pull out the vehicles.
DC has appealed for using road diversion via Rüsoma-Kijümetouma-Kidima (for light vehicles) or BSF-Chakabama-Kidima road till such time the road was restored.
Meanwhile, PYO president, Medokolie has requested all heavy vehicles not to ply till the road was cleared. Also requesting taxi drivers not to hike fares, PYO cautioned of taking necessary action if anyone found violating the appeal. Further, vehicles carrying dead bodies or sick people have been requested to inform PYO volunteers in order to allow PYO to arrange alternate vehicles. MLA Vikho-o Yoshü along with chief engineer R&B, DC and SP Kohima, project director Kohima, SDO (C) Jakhama visited the affected area.
