NSCN (R) cadre shoots superior

A ‘pvt’ in the NSCN (R) armed cadre reportedly fired some rounds on his superior and fled the camp on Saturday morning. The NSCN (R) functionary, identified as ‘Lt. Col’ G. Phom however survived with multiple injuries. According to sources, the ‘pvt’ identified as Wangman had some altercation with his senior at Phuktong designated camp. During the course of the altercation, Wangman fired some five to six rounds at ‘Lt. Col’ G. Phom from his rifle, and fled. Those present at the camp attempted to catch the fleeing assailant but he managed to escape. G. Phom was rushed to Mon civil hospital in a critical condition. No one from the NSCN (R) could be contacted to ascertain the details.
