Against the backdrop of Sangnu village, Mon district declaring non-cooperation to the NSCN (R), the MIP, NSCN/GPRN(Reformation) has claimed that it was “conspired by anti-Naga individual” to create misunderstanding between the group and Sangnu village citizens. In a press release, MIP said the group was compelled to issue the statement to inform the Naga people that it had no “bad intention towards any village, however, it will have tough stands on criminal and conspirator who may be also anti-Naga element.” According to MIP, the “unilateral abrogation” of 14-year ceasefire by SS Khaplang brought immeasurable destruction on NSCN workers on Indian side as “Indian army take laws in their hands.” MIP stated that most of the workers of NSCN including its president fell into the hands of “angry Indian Army”.
It stated that “merciless Indian Army” did not spare even Ponghong designated camp compelling “Naga Army” to vacate. While vacating, MIP said three of its cadres “capt.” Shangyuh (Shangnyu village), “lieut” Kapnyei (Longpho village) and “sgt.maj” Panngom (Shangmyu village) were instructed to conceal seven arms in the jungle.
MIP stated NSCN Army could not collect the concealed arms in view of security concerns for more than two weeks. At that point in time, MIP said “capt.” Shangnyu and “sgt.maj” Panngom both from Sangnu village disappeared. On suspicion of their disappearance, MIP said a team of Naga Army visited the spot to take concealed arms, but were found to be taken away by duo.
MIP said as both were from Sangnu village, an appeal was made from its army Hq. for recovery of the “lost (stolen) arms” from Sangnu village. MIP said it was the practice of any Naga faction(s) to recover lost arms from the concerned village. However, MIP said Sangnu village sent written message at least three times rejecting the “genuine approach of Army Hq.”
Thus, MIP said on August 27, 2015, Sangnu village chairman Tapha was invited to Ponghong designated camp, “who directly refused to settle the issue.”
Claiming that he was “safely” sent back from the camp on August 28 without resolving the issue,” MIP said the only condition from Ponghong camp was “to solve the issue, lest there would be ‘remark’.
However, it said Sangnu village declared non-cooperation towards NSCN(R) and even threatened the group to vacate the camp.
Stating that it was a conspiracy by anti-Naga individual to create misunderstanding, the NSCN (R) said it would trace the “main culprit/conspirator” who would have to pay heavy price in the long run.
MIP said NSCN (R) as people’s government will exist till Naga country becomes a free nation and needed people’s support.
Therefore, it said mutual understanding would be sought but for anybody who was working to destabilise the “Naga national movement will not go well with his anti-people program”, adding that such record will go down in the annals of Naga history.
With regard to Ponghong camp, MIP said it was a Naga revolutionary army camp, saying it did not come out of nothing as it had to go through all norms and procedure, including joint recce by Army, Police, district administration and No objection Certificate from administrator and land owner etc.
Asserting that any problem that arises could be discussed between NSCN(R) and concerned village authority, MIP said any individual therefore should not try to create gap between the two for better future.
