Preserve public property: Longon

 Minister for health and family welfare, P. Longon Friday urged upon the citizens to have a sense of responsibility in protecting public properties. 
Longong, who is on a month-long tour, inspecting hospitals, Primary Health Centre (PHC), Village Health and Sub-Centre all over the state, said to cope with the fast changing development and advancement with others, Nagas have to practice on how to preserve common property. 
He said government was committed in providing high quality equipments and machineries and other infrastructures to the people. However, Longon said that these were not properly utilized and was not beneficial to the public. 
The minister observed that during his tour, many shortcomings in almost all the hospitals, PHC, Village Health and Sub-Centre in the state were detected. He therefore, sought cooperation from public and NGOs while the government was trying to improve health sector.
Longon also said that through fund from National Rural Health Mission (NHRM) and state government, the department initiated and take up various development works in health sectors. He maintained that with the implementation of NRHM in the state, there was cent percent success in health sector especially in rural areas where ASHA were appointed in all the villages. 
Longon also expressed dismayed on the rampant encroachment of government land and properties by the public. He said the action of the public in encroaching was effecting development in the state. 
The minister therefore, urged upon district administration, police, tribal Hohos etc. to immediately start evicting those encroachers as per the agreement between land owner and the concerned department.
Interacting with the medical staffs, Longon also called upon the doctors and nurses to be sincere in their duties keeping in mind the ‘’Service for Humanity’’. 
The minister was accompanied by commissioner & secy (H&FW), principal secretary, directors H&FW and NRHM, engineer H&FW and others.  
During a short programme with NGOs of Longleng district, the apex organizations- PPC, PSC and Phom Hoichem, submitted a memorandum to the minister for immediate implementation.  
It includes: upgrading district hospital to 50 bedded; completion of Maternity ward and Neo-notal care centre under (NRHM); restoration of transferred attachment of senior dental surgeon & O.T Technician at NHAK to district hospital Longleng; establishment of PHCs at Namching and Sakshi EAC Hq and construction of fencing wall at district hospital Longleng.
