Don’t grant bail to rape accused: STH to DM

September 28, 2015 | by admin

Sümi Totimi Hoho (STH) during an emergency meeting on September 26, with regard to the Aghunato rape incident, appealed to the District Magistrate (DM) not to grant bail to the accused, Ghukiye Achumi son of Phukheto Achumi under any circumstances.
STH president Kitoli Naje and general sectary, Kotoli K Chishi warned that any individual (s) or group (s) who tried to bail out the accused would ‘bear the wrath” of the entire Sülimi community”.
They termed the act as “barbaric, beastly, demonic, uncivilized and evil”, and said that an elderly person committing crime to a seven-year-old minor was like a grandfather committing the same to his granddaughter.
Hoho further stated that it would not tolerate such evil act and urged the concerned Zunheboto police team especially the I.O of the case to investigate the case strictly and award severest punishment/penalty as per the law of the land.
When contacted, police said Ghukiye Achumi, had committed the crime “continually” at his own a garment and footwear shop in Aghunato town, but the incident came to fore only on September 21.   The accused is under police custody for further investigation.
