Zeliangrong Baudi (Assam, Manipur and Nagaland) has said Lok Sabha MP and former chief minister of Nagaland Neiphiu Rio, who had special concern for Heraka, the traditional culture of the Zeliangrong community, “the most minority section of denomination”, and having vast knowledge of late Rani Gaidinliu history “deemed fit to popularize the lone lady amongst the Nagas.”
In a press release, ZB (AMN) president Raitu said under Neiphiu Rio’s chief ministership, Rani Gaidinliu museum cum library was started “having thought the Nagas shall reap the fruit in near future.”
Further, Baudi stated that Neiphiu Rio as a great politician initiated the museum cum library project on recognizing the role of Rani Gaidinliu, who had the courage to challenge the mighty British Empire and the government of India declaring her as the freedom fighter and bestowing with several national awards.
Expressing gratitude to Neiphiu Rio for several initiatives, ZB (AMN) said it was under Rio’s leadership, the Peren district was inaugurated in the year 2006.
Baudi said on October 12, 2009, when the then chief minister Neiphiu Rio visited Tening town to inaugurate the silver jubilee of Zeliangrong Hereka school, the Zeliangrong Heraka Association submitted a memorandum to him for the construction of late Rani Gaidinliu memorial at Kohima the capital of Nagaland. As the chief minister of Nagaland, Baudi said Rio had promised to take up the said project. It said “as a man of action”, Rio tirelessly pursued the project with the DoNER ministry and the required fund was obtained, adding that the said project was implemented under his chief ministership.
Stating that it found Neiphiu Rio’s real zeal of secularism and equality in every aspect, Baudi said at that inaugural function, Neiphiu Rio had also generously donated Rs. 25 lakh for Zeliangrong Heraka school infrastructure.
Therefore, the Baudi appealed to the Nagas “not to have wrong concept on Neiphiu Rio the dynamic leadership but to appreciate him for his far sighted.”
Baudi also appreciated the bureaucrats, intellectuals and the writers “for understanding ultimately the importance of Rani Gaidinliu role during British rule in India.”
Asserting that it also respected and honoured many prominent Naga leaders and Naga freedom fighters for the great cause of Nagas, Baudi said “If God willing we shall do more glorification and build greater institution in near future.”
ZB(AMN) further extended gratitude and appreciation to the NDA government led by Narendra Modi Prime minister of India for releasing stamp and commemorative coins of Rani Gaidinliu.
Meanwhile, seeking to “clear the mind of Naga fellows”, the Baudi said “Heraka” meant “Almighty God and pure, the creator of Universe.” In Zeliangrong term, it said “Hera” stood for “Almighty God” and ‘ka’ for “pure”. Therefore, the baudi sauid Zeliangrong Heraka also worshiped and sought the “blessing of Almighty God.”
Underlining that Zeliangrong Heraka respected late Rani Gaidinliu and Haipou late Jadonang as their leaders, Baudi said “God of Heraka is the Almighty God.”
