Govt undertakes apple, cardamom projects at Konya

Parliamentary secretary horticulture, DBs, GBs Kejong Chang announced that state government would be undertaking apple and cardamom projects in Konya village which have been without caretakers for the last five years. 
Kejong made this announcement October 8, while inaugurating apple and cardamom projects at Konya village. 
Parliamentary secretary also lauded the villagers for the unity particularly in passing a strong resolution for mass cultivation of apple and cardamom in the village.
“Unity of the villagers, speak loud enough for other to see the fruits of unity for all round development”, he added. 
He further urged the villagers to maintain peaceful environment within its jurisdiction, which was an important factor for development. 
In her address, director horticulture, Watienla Jamir, also appreciated the efforts of the villagers and said Konya village was second in the production of apple in the state next to Thanamir. She assured that the department would extend all possible assistance in making the projects successful. 
Earlier, Konya village council chairman, N. Somba Chang delivered welcome address.  He said the council jointly with its residents resolved to go for mass cultivation of apple and cardamom in 2010. Since then, few beneficiaries have obtained nurseries from their own source and planted in their respective fields, which have started yielding fruits. However, majority of the villagers could not avail such opportunity and still yet to be planted, which discouraged the farmers, he added. 
He, therefore, requested the concern department to provide necessary nurseries and farming implements at the earliest before. 
The programme was chaired by deputy director SHN Dimapur Dr. Moa Walling, while invocation prayer was pronounced   by pastor KBC, M.Lemba Chang.
