St Francis Xavier Church Kidima (SFXCK), diocese of Kohima observed “Mission Sunday 2015” with rest of the world with director of Eden Garden, Khuzama, India, Reverend Father Raymond D’Souza SJ, as the main celebrant at the church premises on October 18.
Rev Father Raymond D’Souza SJ during the occasion said Mission Sunday was observed on third Sunday of October, to make people understand the mission for the salvation. The day was dedicated to the missionary throughout the world especially those who are facing difficulties.
Father Raymond also said mission is the mandate that is a request and not a command, as Jesus had promised to His followers to be with them at the end, he added. Father quoting the gospel of Saint Luke 6: 38 “Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure….. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”
Father Raymond in his homily said the authority of heaven and earth had been given to his Apostles, the first who landed in India was St Thomas. Father added that Jesus commanded His Apostles to baptize in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
Father also asked the large Catholic gathering to baptize the seriously sick and the people who are about to die. Reading of the Holy Bible, receiving the body and blood of Jesus Christ, contributing for the missionaries by the faithful and special prayer for salvation ministry were the highlights of the daylong celebration of the liturgical calendar.
