Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA) of various blocks inaugurated farm schools.
Tuensang: ATMA Tuensang, Longkhim block inaugurated cardamom farm school on November 20, at Longkhim. The concept of farm school was delivered by BTT convenor Lonkhim block Puchong, after which training and demonstration on various topics such as packages and practice of cabbage, disease control measures of cabbage, cultivation techniques of cardamom and mushroom cultivation was conducted by Moatemsu ATM and ATM Watisenla. Rangdongse was appointed as the farm school teacher. Altogether 30 ATMA functionaries’ farmers attended the programme.
Meanwhile, ATMA Tuensang, Sangsangyu Block inaugurated Kiwi farm school on November 18, at Yongphung sector, Tuensang HQ.
During the programme, training and demonstration on the scope, importance, cultivation techniques and management of Kiwi, cultivation practices on pea and ginger was imparted to the participants.
Resource persons included HA (Horticulture) Chemrila and ATM Achetba Longchar.
The programme was chaired by BTT convenor C.Limba HEA (Horticulture) and concept of farm school was delivered to the farmers by BTM Temjenmenla. Meanwhile, Lamthai was appointed as the farm school teacher.
Altogether 30 farmers attended the programme.
ATMA Tuensang Shamator block organized training cum demonstration programme at Shamator, Muleangkiur and Chassir villages from November 19 to 21. ATMA Tuensang Shamator block also inaugurated kholar farm school on November 19, at Chassir village with Shito Yim as farm school teacher.
During Training and demonstration, ATM Lanrthonthung delivered demonstration on cultivation of garden pea, cabbage and mustard such as soil preparation, planting, spacing and pest control.
While training and demonstration on value addition in ginger was conducted by BTM Suponglemla chang.
Food Security Group (FSG) was also set up under name ‘SOLO FSG’ at Shamator village. Altogether 51 farmers and 2 SHG attended the programme.
ATMA Sitimi block conducted two-day training and demonstrations programme on November 18 and 20, at Nitoi village and Xuvishe villages respectively.
Resource persons of the programme were BTM Hokato Achumi who demonstrated on the preparation of vermicompost and nursery bed.
Meanwhile, ATMA Nusakho Nyekha demonstrated integrated pest management on French bean and ATM Lipokjungla Ozukum demonstrated the preparation of neem seed kernel extract.
They also focused on explaining the importance of these different techniques and how application of these in their farming routines would benefit them which was followed by interactive session. ATMA service was briefed by BTT convener Lakiumong.
Altogether 40 beneficiaries from both the villages attended the session.
Noksen: ATMA Tuensang Noksen block conducted training on “package of practices for winter crops” at Sangdak village on November 18. ATM Tsuktirenla S. Jamir trained the farmers on how to maintain the nursery bed for healthy growth of the crops using available resources like farm yard manure, vermicompost, compost, kitchen refuse etc. Mechanical/indigenous control methods for organic produce were also imparted. Altogether 35 farmers attended the programme.
Mokokchung: One-day training-cum-demonstration on mushroom cultivation (oyster) was organized by ATMA Ongpangkong North, Mokokchung on November 20 at district horticulture office with assistant horticulture officer, Mokokchung Dr. Temjenmenla as resource person. During training session Dr. Temjenmenla explained the scope and benefits of mushroom cultivation, cultivation procedure and economic importance.
BTM Ongpangkong said the growing demand of edible mushroom in the market was because of its high nutritional and health benefits.
Limala from Tsüngmi SHG Ungma while sharing her group experience on mushroom cultivation and how this venture has uplift the economic status of the group, encouraged the trainees to take up mushroom cultivation. The programme was attended by 14 trainees. Spawn and packaging materials were also distributed to them.
