Signature campaign on healthy living

Signature campaign on healthy living was organized by the students of Martin Luther Christian University, Department of Social Work, Shillong in collaboration with National Health Mission (NCD), Department Health & Family Welfare, Nagaland and a team from Urban Primary Health Centre, Kohima (National Urban Health Mission) near Union Baptist Church, Super Market Kohima, Wednesday.  
The signature campaign on healthy living and free medical consultation was led by medical officer in-charge Urban PHC Seikhazou Kohima Dr. Aomeren Longkumer. Visitors or participants were also distributed IEC materials for free.
During Wednesday campaign, Dr. Longkumer said it was found out that about 50% of the visitors were found to be overweight while 28 diabetes cases and 32 cases of hypertension were detected.
A Doctor speaking to this correspondent suggested that the public should be made more aware on healthy lifestyles. The doctor recommended proper diet, regular physical exercises, avoiding intoxicants, regular health checkups. Most of the visitors were pedestrians; over 160 people availed free screening of diabetes and hypertension during the campaign.
