Coming out in hundreds, public of Mon town on November 26 carried out a rally to voice out against “unlawful taxation and extortion”, ACAUT media cell stated in a press release.
ACAUT said that the rally organized by Mon Chamber of Commerce and Industry in association with KU, KNSK, MTSU and public leaders, was symptomatic of the fact that the business community and the public of Mon were absolutely fed up with the anti-social activities of the NPGs.
The rally being first of its kind in Mon town, ACAUT said people have sent a strong message to both the NPGs and Government that people in Mon have had enough of the senseless spectacle of extortions.
Observing Mon district as the bastion of many NPG groups, ACAUT said “the clear anti-people activity of these factions seems to have alienated almost all the local population. Therefore, the verdict is clear; without public support the factions are irrelevant”.
