
Nagaland government would be implementing the Central government’s ‘Housing for all’ scheme by 2016, parliamentary secretary for Municipal Affairs, Economic and statistics, R. Tohanba said on Tuesday.
He informed that the project would be undertaken by the Municipal Affairs department, to develop homes for the urban poor, below poverty line (BPL).
Addressing the pre-Christmas celebration cum inter ward competition organized by Kohima Municipal Council under the theme “let’s go clean to get our globe clean” held at zonal council hall Kohima on Tuesday, Tohanba said that Kohima town was likely to be in the first 20 list under smart city project. The results would be known by January first or second week, he said. Tohanba urged the citizens of Kohima to extend their cooperation for the successful implementation of the scheme.
In his Christmas message, Tohanba said “this was the time to reform our thoughts and feelings, as Christ brought peace.
Dr. Fr. A.J. Sebastian in his brief address said Christ came to this world to liberate us from the bondage of sin. Though KMC is doing its job of outward cleanliness in Kohima town, Dr. Sebastian asserted that Christians ought to keep their inner mind clean to invite Christ into their lives.
DC Kohima Ravilatuo Mor in his address highlighted the various activities taken up by the district administration.
Various competition like cleanliness, illuminations, activity and cooperation of the wards were held. Old minister’s hill ward no.14 won the first prize with Rs. 50000 cash award sponsored by M. Charlie Sekhose 1st class contractor, second prize was bagged by Bayavü ward no. 2 with cash award of Rs. 30000 sponsored by K. Seyie, proprietor Seyie gas agency and the third prize won by Officers’ hill ward no. 10 with cash prize of Rs. 20000 sponsored by Vikuo Metha proprietor Viliethie complex.
The award for cleanest shop in Kohima– first prize Café Caffeine Razhii Point (1 year free registration), second prize by Cross Word Dzüvürü (6 months free registration) and third position Mixed Bag Jail colony (3 months free registration).
The programme was chaired by KMC administrator Kovi Meyase while the invocation prayer was pronounced by pastor Central Baptist church Bayavü, Neichalie Chadi.
