Zunheboto town got a facelift with the recent completion of phase-1 road repair works (one-way zone-1), which was carried out under the supervision of Sümi Hoho (SH) and Zunheboto Town Youth Organization (ZTYO).
According to SH vice president Khehoshe H Yeptho and ZTYO president Dr Awoto, the Old Town road stretch would be completed latest by this weekend.
They said the swift and smooth repair works were possible due to collective effort of all the responsible individuals, groups, district administration, law enforcing agency and the general public.
The leaders also lauded the minister for road and bridges Vikheho Y Swu, on behalf of the Sümi community and citizens of Zunheboto town, for the support.
The two maintained that with the initiation of phase-I road repairs works, which began a few months ago, the long awaited dreams and outcry of the Sümi community and Zunheboto public was finally becoming reality.
They further pointed out that cooperation extended by general public and volunteers mostly youths played a crucial role during the ongoing phase-I.
The public leaders expressed hope that all the responsible would continue to extend cooperation even in the phase-II road repair works.
Meanwhile, they lauded the ‘project colony’ youth volunteers for conducting cleanliness drive and poster campaign along the recently completed “One-way Zone-1” main town road stretch.
Further, the two leaders appealed to the public from the Daily Market to Petrol Pump road stretch to remove all illegal movable and immovable structures obstructing the road so as to avoid unnecessary incidents. The works on that stretch is likely to begin within a week’s time.
