One day “healthy lifestyle camp” for adults aged 15 years and above was organized by Non Communicable Diseases (NCD) of District Hospital Dimapur (DHD) under the department of health & family welfare at CHC Medziphema, Dimapur district, Friday.
The camp was sponsored by National Health Mission (NHM), where the camp activity was for prevention and control of cancer, diabetes, blood pressure, screening hypertension and physiotherapy service with treatment and counseling.
Chairing the brief programme, senior specialist, DHD cum nodal officer, NCD clinic DHD, Dr. Temsusashi highlighted about diabetes, hypertension and cancer. He also explained the complications, risk factors, the types, change of life style, food habits, the symptoms and its treatment and for prevention and early diagnosis.
Dr. Temsusashi said that since the camp was first of its kind in the district and urged upon the citizens and the community leaders to help in spreading information and awareness about the healthy lifestyle.
While in discussion, pediatrician, Medziphema CHC, Dr. Tali briefed about objectives and purpose of the camp saying that the aim of the camp was to encourage healthy living and the risk factors and the result was to make the community alert. He also said that the strengthen information on healthy lifestyle and to expand health seeking activities.
On exercises for healthy life, NCD clinic DHD, musculoskeletal physiotherapist, Yongkongsangla Ao provided counseling and excises on various ailments related with diabetes, stroke, high blood pressure etc.
The camp also witnessed facilities provided by National Tobacco Control Programme (NTCP) of Dimapur team, screened the level of toxic carbon monoxide content in the lungs of smoker followed by counseling and distribution of IEC materials.
Altogether 198 patients availed the various health services provided at the health camp with the presence of dedicated doctors and health staffs. Free medicines for hypertension and diabetes mellitus were also distributed in the camp.
Activity of the camp included screening of diabetes and hypertension beside others, counseling for healthy lifestyle, tobacco cessation was also give, ECG was done for needy patients.
Earlier the programme was chaired by Senior Specialist, DHD cum nodal officer, NCD clinic DHD, Dr. Temsusashi, while welcome address was delivered by senior medical officer CHC Medziphema, Dr. Manyau Phom. Short speech was given by HCMC chairman CHC Medziphema, Dosau followed by group discussion moderated by Pediatrician, CHC Medziphema, Dr. Tali.
