Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) Day was observed across Nagaland on Tuesday by District Rural Development Agency (DRDA).
In Mon, Women VDB members were urged to be creative and utilize their skills by taking active part in attending seminars, trainings etc. and not for the sake of filling the 25 percent reservation.
SDO (C) Mon, Illika Jorlym said this while addressing VDB members on the occasion of “MGNREGA day “at DRDA Resource Centre Mon, Tuesday.
Also, congratulating the VDB secretaries and members, SDO said VDB members being considered stake holders should not just observe or celebrate the day, but introspect and retrospect how much they have done for the village and community. She also encouraged the VDB members to give their best efforts with whatever resources and funds they received.
P.O DRDA Mon, Temjen Longchar while delivering keynote address pointed out that due to the wrong information given in the job card, many difficulties cropped up while generating aadhar card. Therefore, he urged all the VDB secretaries to provide correct information when any government official sought their bio data/ information. Earlier, the program chaired by APMC (MGNREGA) DRDA Mon, Still Among began with an invocation by BDO, Phangphe BDO. (Correspondent)
DIMAPUR: DRDA Dimapur observed the “10th MGNREGA Day (MGNREGA Divas)” at the conference hall of DRDA Dimapur, Tuesday.
Delivering a keynote address, project director cum DPC (MGNREGA) DRDA Dimapur, Alemla Chishi said MGNREGA was passed with a vision and a need to provide and promote a secure, safe and improved standard of living to the vulnerable people living in rural India.
She said “we all are part of this program and that we have a duty to carry out the instructions of this mandate for the development and betterment of our society”.
Stressing on the transparency and accountability of the schemes, Alemla said transparency and accountability was not limited to just financial status but covers one’s individual performance in implementing works in respective areas.
The success of project can only be summed up by the improved, sustainability and maintenance of the standard of living of the people, she added.
Alemla urged the gathering to join hands together and endeavor to ensure that Dimapur district would be a success story for the MGNREGA.
Delivering a short speech, president Nagaland VDB Association, Tohoshe Awomi lauded the central government’s decision to continue MGNREGA that has transformed the lives of the villagers.
He also highlighted the activities of the association that has given maximum exposure the VDB functionaries in the state.
Also delivering a short speech, chairperson, Naharbari Village Council, Tokheli Kikon who is the first and only woman heading a village council in Nagaland hoped that MGNREGA would be continued even in the years to come.
She thanked the officers in the district for rendering their utmost service in guiding the villagers for proper implementation of the schemes in villages.
The function chaired by programme officer MGNREGA, Moakaba was attended by departmental officials, VDB association representatives, VBD secretaries and village council functionaries of the villages of six rural development blocks under DRDA Dimapur. Vote of thanks was proposed by APC, MGNREGA, Imkong.
KOHIMA: DRDA Kohima along with blocks observed “MGNREGA Day” at DRDA conference hall, with additional director, DRDB, Imlimeren as the chief guest. Officials and staff from DRDA and blocks, village functionaries and civil societies attended the programme.
The chief guest in his speech briefed on MGNREGA and emphasized the need to prioritize the shelf of works based on collective discussion and decision. He also stressed on the durability of assets created and its economic viability.
Imlimeren also advised the VBDs from Kohima district to disseminate the factual information and educate the stake holders and be example to rest of the State.
The programme was chaired by DPO-1, DRDA Kohima, Achila, welcome address was delivered by DPO-II, DRDA Kohima, Rosenle Kath. Ruokuozelie Usou, APO-1, DRDA, Kohima delivered the keynote address. Short speech was given by women representative Tseminyu Block, VDB representative Jakhama Block, BDO representative Seyiekhrielie Rio, BDO Botsa. Vote of thanks was delivered by APO, DRDA Kohima, Wekhro.
