To close down state-wide HIV targeted IDCs on February 15 &16
To express resentment towards the state government for not releasing HIV programme grant for several months and to demand immediate release of the same, the Network of Nagaland Drugs and AIDS Organisation (NNagaDAO) has resolved to close down all the HIV targeted Intervention Drop-In Centres (IDC) on February 15 and 16 across the state.
This decision was taken at an emergency meeting of NNagaDAO executive board and advisers on February 9 held in Regional Resource and Training Centre (Kripa Foundation) Training hall, Kohima.
The meeting also decided to hold a peaceful protest really in all the district headquarters on February 15 and submit a representation to the chief minister through respective district deputy commissioner.
In a press release, NNagaDAO president Abou Mere stated that the NGOs and their staffs cannot continue to function on “beg and borrow (credit and loans) from the well-wishers.”
Mere also said staffs take loan with interest to take care of their children school fees, house rent, grocery and other essential needs.
Further, stating that NGOs brought HIV prevention commodities on credits or took loan and purchased commodities to continue providing services to its target groups, NNagaDAO president said HIV prevention commodity were running out of stock and without HIV prevention commodities, it had no meaning in opening the drop-in centres.
The organisation has therefore requested all partner NGOs and CBOs to contact NNagaDAO office bearers or  respective district representative for more information.
It also requested all the beneficiaries, district administrations, civil society organisations, FBOs and well-wishers to extend cooperation towards its peaceful protest.
