Kohima Police has seized 210 kgs of ganja which was neatly wrapped in 21 packages with each package weighting 10 kilos each from a Mahindra Bolero (GA74M94462) on February 23.
According to Sub-Divisional Police Officer & PRO Atu Zumvü NPS the driver indentified as Nipuni Athili (31) son of late Athili of Chekremai village under Senapati district Manipur was accordingly taken into Police custody for further investigation.
The PRO said the vehicle approached from Manipur side and when the DIB personnel signalled the suspicious Bolero to stop it sped away ignoring the signal of the Police.
In a hot pursuit by the Police, the PRO said in an attempt to stop the vehicle, three warning shots from .38 service pistol were fired by D.I.B personnel and subsequently was intercepted from a bridge between Kidima and Viswema.
In this connection, PRO said a regular case has been registered against the driver on the charges of transporting and possession of contraband ganja.
