AMC inaugurated; a place of learning

Akuvuto Music Centre (AMC) has been inaugurated on February 27 at WSBAK Mission Centre, Akuvuto, Thahekhu by Ghukhato (Gugs) Chishi, project director, Music Task Force, Government of Nagaland.

AMC is a flagship project of Music Department under WSBAK and run as a non-profitable project. The Centre will closely partner and network with local churches for the support and practical ministry. It will also tie up with other music institutes and centres both within and abroad for exchanging resources, materials and performances.

The aims and objectives of AMC are: to nurture children musically from their early age in order to prepare them to become music professionals; to train children and youth musically and prepare them to become music missionaries to other parts of the world; to create opportunities for young people to develop their musical skills so as to allow them to get involved in church ministry etc.

On the occasion, the chief guest, Ghukhato Chishi said skill building and the need to be employable is the need of the future. He said one of the strengths of the Naga people is the capacity to understand and expound in the music field. He also said music is one of the best outreach activities for the church. 

He said northeast has wonderful talents that can be exploited and music is one of the talents. He said music is a skill and encouraged youngsters to venture into this field. 

He encouraged the music teachers to identify musical talents in young people and hone their skills by dedicating time and effort. He was optimistic that AMC would turn out to be a place of blessing for the society.

The medium of instruction at AMC would be English and a qualified and experienced team of teachers will teach the students. AMC offers courses in piano, voice, classical guitar, violin, music theory, flute and conducting. Registration is open for students of seven years of age and above.
