Zunheboto Town Youth Organisation (ZTYO) has informed that it would be organizing a youth festival ‘Mélange 2016’ under the theme ‘Being Sumi’ which would be held from April 21 to 23 at Zunheboto town.
Announcing this during a press conference, here Friday, ZTYO said the fest was to revive cultural heritage and fuse it with a modern touch, create a platform for literary, fine arts, games and sports performances etc.
The organizers said, the recreational activities during ‘Melange 2016’ were projected at promoting and bringing out a change in Zünheboto in line with ZTYO’s motto ‘Be the Change’ and the fest would be the star mark event kick starting the campaign ‘Awake Zünheboto’ which was officially launched by ZTYO in the month of February.
Some of the primary objectives of the fest included: to promote the advancement and progress in youth related activities and resource developments, to cultivate a sense of pride and restoration of “our” rich cultural identity, lead youths from varied walks of life towards a progressive life, to nourish, guide and mould them into becoming responsible and good citizens of the society etc., informed the organizers.
During the 3 day fest, there will be competitions and other activities such as cultural, games, sports and literary where participants will include youths representing the 11 colonies and wards under the jurisdiction of Zünheboto town.
A special attraction during the fest will be the ‘night carnival’ which will be the first of its kind for the town and people interested in opening stall are informed to collect forms from ZTYO’s office, Project Colony, Zünheboto and last date of submission of filled up forms will be April 30, the organizers said.
Highlights of the fest: The festival will also feature fashion event, ‘Ombre Minutiae’, featuring Kohima based trainer, Hair and Makeup Artist, NIAPA-Lomi Shikhu, along with other local designers. Interested models and designers who wish to be a part of the event should register before March 21.
A workshop on ‘Hair & Makeup’, will also be conducted with Lomi Shikhu as the resource person.
Third day of the festival will witness a ‘Youth Conclave’, which will open to all the Naga/Sümi youths and well wishers who has connection and ties with Zunheboto town irrespective of professional attributes.
