Food grains released to state under FCI

The food grains allotted by the government of India for the government of Nagaland have been fully lifted from Food Corporation of India (FCI) during the period April 2015 to March 2016.

In a press release, FCI district office, Dimapur area manager Kamei Gongreipou said that FCI releases food grains to the state government and further distribution to the beneficiaries was the responsibility of the state government.

FCI has been releasing food grains to the state government for distribution to the beneficiaries under targeted public distribution system (TPDS) and other welfare schemes (OWS) of the government of India in addition to maintenance of sufficient buffer stocks, the release stated.

To bring more transparency and efficiency in the working of the corporation, Union Food Minister on March 17, 2016 launched a depot online system (DOS). The processes of receipts, issues and quality maintenance of food grains at FCI depots were automated and made online in the DOS.
