When a Naga girl after winning a national beauty pageant is set to represent the country in an international beauty contest, it is something a feat which every Naga should be proud of but is she ready to represent the country of 6 billion Indians including the NE people and the Nagas in general at the Miss World Beauty Queen 2016 pageant at Seoul, Korea, for which reporting date being November 7 while the grand finale will be held on November 16.
According to sources, Imlibenla Wati, the Naga beauty was the official Indian entrant to the Miss World Beauty Queen 2016 pageant supposed to be held in June-July this year after she won the Miss World Beauty-India 2015 title and also the Miss Congeniality sub-title at Rubaru Miss India Elite 2015 contest held in Delhi last autumn.
When contacted about the world beauty pageant, Imlibenla who was here in Dimapur to participate in an exhibition football match between DABA and young professionals played on Monday at GHSS, Half Nagarjan, Dimapur, and also en-route to Guwahati and Mumbai disclosed she got information about the pageant being rescheduled to October through her manager only in the last week of August otherwise she was not aware of it but rather was engaged in her old activities; focusing and dedicating more towards her passion-football and drumming instead of preparing for the world pageant as she got no further details from the organizers (Rubaru Organizations) since the national beauty pageant held almost a year ago.
Asked whether she was planning to quit and not ready to go further in the glamour world as she seemed less bothered about the upcoming Miss World Beauty Queen 2016 contest, Imibenla said it is not that she does not know or turning away from her responsibilities given to her along with the crown.
She elaborated that beginning from her tenure as Miss Nagaland 2012, she tried her best to fulfill the responsibilities which comes or hold the tag ‘Beauty With A Purpose’ and added that she believed any woman even without any title could be a role model for the society.
Maintaining that every dream of a girl is to wear a tiara and for a beauty queen determination and desire is always towards the bigger crown, Imlibenla said “India is known for her diversity and I am here as a Naga Diva to represent the beauty of it.”
She further went on to add that the universe has seen just one face of India so far, but believed it was the time to show the universe that India is a universe in her own and embraces all and she is here as ‘Diva’ to show the universe India truly celebrates beauty in diversity.
On being questioned whether she’ll hand over the national crown to the girl next in line if she is unable to represent the country in the world pageant, Imlibenla replied that definitely she would, for it all depends upon the national organizers as there is always someone capable to represent the country of six billion people and as of now she has no comments whether to participate at world pageant but added that representing the whole country and the Nagas in bigger international platform was what she is adamant about and determined to.
It is pertinent to mentioned here that Imlibenla also represented India at the Miss Pan Continental World 2015 on November 29 at Philippines on behalf of the official entrant who failed to participate.
The pageant saw Imlibenla in the top 8 where contestants from more than 30 countries vied for the crown. She was also awarded with the subtitle-Ambassador of Tourism and Humanity in the same contest.
