NSCN (I-M) has strongly condemned the unwarranted raid, physical and mental torture meted to Tatar Namchum at Noksen village under Tuensang district by 5 Assam Rifles based at Zunheboto on January 5.
In a condemnation note, MIP, Hebron, said AR personnel entered the house of Namchu at around 12 midnight and questioned him as to which group he belonged to. Even after identifying himself, two Meitei dialect speaking jawans abused him stating that you NSCN (I-M) are the causing troubles in Manipur, MIP added. After raiding the house, where they could not find anything objectionable, they took him to an undisclosed location where he was beaten, MIP stated.
MIP said that NSCN had taken note of the communal colours within the ARs and that Meiteis in particular are venting out their personal vendetta against innocent Nagas.
MIP stated that the commanding officer of the 5 Assam Rifles based in Zunheboto should initiate steps against the erring Manipuri jawans and cautioned that if such acts occur again NSCN (I-M) would be compelled to target the concerned battalion.
