‘National Girls Child Day’ celebrated in Longleng

Along with the rest of the country, Longleng on Tuesday celebrated “National Girls Child Day” at Deputy Commissioner’s Conference hall, Longleng. The programme was organized by District Task force on Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) Longleng with Shamthai Phom president, Phomla Hoichem as special guest and attended by government officials, NGOs, Phom Student Conference and Nehru Yuva Kendra Volunteers.
At the programme, Shamthai Phom highlighted the importance and significance of “National Girls Child Day” and the importance of girl’s education and women empowerment.
Two meritorious girl students Nyumeila Phom and Esther Moithei Phom were awarded with scholarship under the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Scheme. Further, cash incentives were also given to 11 girl child born at the District Hospital, Longleng.
Earlier, the programme was chaired by EAC Sakshi Kevingoto Kulnu, short speech was delivered by DC and chairman of District Task force Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, Y. Denngan Avennoho Phom, special song was presented by Chingyau Phom and friends, Lejei Phom of Good Shepherd School, Longleng recited the Poem written by Bina Gupta “Dreams of Today’s Girl Child” and SDEO Longleng Temsusenla proposed the vote of thanks.
