Along with the rest of the country, Nagaland will celebrate its 7th National Voters’ Day on the foundation day of the Election Commission of India on January 25 at the state capital, all Election Districts and the sub-divisions under the theme “Empowering Young and Future Voters”.
According to a release by Chief Electoral Officer (O) Nagaland, N. Moa Aier state level NVD will be celbrated with chief secretary, Pankaj Kumar as chief guest in the presence of AHoDs/heads of security organizations like DGP, 164 Territorial Army (Naga) Assam Rifles, 93rd Bn. BSF, CRPF, 15 BRTF, Rajya Sainik Board, NCC Group Hqs, and Scouts & Guides, political parties, NGOs and the election machineries.
The CEo informed that heads of departments will also organize brief NVD functions in respective offices and shared the NVD message of the Chief Election Commissioner of India and undertook NVD pledges by the employees.
The newly registered voters in the latest revision will be felicitated in a brief ceremony to inculcate in them a commitment to democratic electoral process which would lead to greater participation.
It informed that election department will also gave special focus on all eligible citizens particularly people from marginalized groups and segments, Persons with Disabilities (PwDs), Third Gender, Service Voters and Non Resident Indians (NRIs), domestic migrant labourers besides women and youth to come forward to register names in the electoral roll and exercise franchises in the next opportunities.
As, Nagaland celebrates, 7th National Voters’ Day, the CEO said the voters participation and support to the department will go a long way in strengthening the department’s resolve of making voter’s education and electoral awareness messages more accessible to the members of our public institutions and the masses.
On this day, the CEO has once again reminded all concern including the government machineries, leadership of political parties, NGOs and every citizen to rededicate ourselves to pursue towards the call for greater participation through qualitative participation in terms of ethical and informed voting for a stronger democracy.
